12-31-04 This was a very busy year for me
with a trip to Cancun in late February where I found the blues scene almost
non existent. March was the first of several trips to Peoria where I never
did discover any blues except a local radio station. In April I had tickets
to see the Blues Tour which was canceled without much notice. It was full
of prominent Blues greats such as Little Milton, Johnnie Johnson, Duke
Robillard, Charlie Musselwhite
My sister visited in late June so she had to attend the annual pilgrimage to Summerfest on opening day with me to see the BEL AIRS, Bettye Lavette, and a few other acts. Summerfest is always a great time and I am always anxious to get there and see what's new each year. Every year they have fantastic music and loads of ethnic food in a beautiful setting along Lake Michigan. My sister headed back home before I got a chance to see Ann Rabson and Marcia Ball two of my favorite piano players. They write many of their own songs and their songs are fabulous!
The weekend after Summerfest was Bastille Days where I got to see one
of my Favorite local acts Reverend Raven
and the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys.
Those boys really know how to rock! I try to catch them regularly when
they are in the local area but quite frequently they are traveling throughout
Wisconsin and Minnesota to Illinois with occasional forays into South Dakota
and Indiana. Where ever they go they are bound to cause a sensation!
A family wedding in July with out of towners visiting and a search for new living quarters took up the balance of the summer. I did get to see Johnny Lang September 21 at the new Potowatomi Northern Lights Theater which has great sightlines and acoustics. Another family wedding in September and it was moving time for me. I now live in a small town closer to Madison than Milwaukee but I still get to the big city quite often.
The official move was done the weekend of October 15 and I had a Halloween Housewarming on October 30 so I don't have to explin what I did with my free time in October. Do I? The following week my sons filled a 24 foot semi with the contents of the storage locker and ever since I have been sorting out three generations of accumulation. I still have some ways to go before I am all unpacked but making progress all the time.
I may find my journal and fill in more details at a later time but for
now I just want to do the site updates.
